Applying To University #1
Hey guys,
This academic year I am applying to university and I thought I would record each step i'm taking just to help anyone else applying to university. Needless to say, I am very nervous about applying to university and getting into one that I love and will enjoy, but nevertheless I hope I can help to answer any questions you may have about applying to university through my experiences. I hope to make this a useful blog series so please do leave a comment if you have any questions.
August (Summer Holiday)
This month was spent changing my mind numerous times about the course I want to do at university with the help of some friends and family. I thought you might find it interesting to have a look at all the career and degree options I have considered (trust me there are quite a few).
- Psychology
- Psychology with Sociology
- Nursing
- Radiotherapy
- Midwifery
- Real Estate Agent
- Social Worker
- Occupational Therapist
- Counselling
As you can see I had changed my mind quite a few times about my choice of degree considering I was so set on becoming a Psychologist this time last year and for the past three years. I guess this goes to show that nothing is set in stone and there are circumstances which make you reconsider what is right for you.
I suppose at this rate you are all wondering what I chose in the end since I should be completing my application soon. But first let me tell you this, it doesn't help coming from a family which seems to produce many successful professionals such as pharmacists and optometrists, as this makes me feel like I need to go into a career which is equally rewarding and something I will be happy doing. At the end of my summer holidays I finally made my mind up and have decided on applying for a Midwifery course (who knows I might end up changing my mind again). There were many influences on my choice at the time; these included the fact that my mum wanted to be a midwife before she left college, I knew someone who recently graduated as a registered midwife, and I was binge watching 'One Born Every Minute' just to see what it would be like.
So there we go, that is how I spent my summer - dreading my AS level results and trying to stick to a career choice. I hope this has helped you if you are an indecisive person like myself, and I wish you the best of luck on choosing a career path that is best for you. x

Back to School: Makeup Kit
As I am due back at school in a few weeks, I have decided to show you the makeup products I use everyday for school.
I usually wake up at 7:15 am and leave the house at about 8:15 am. I like to do my makeup fairly quickly so that I have time to pick an outfit, get changed and eat breakfast.
The products I use everyday are super inexpensive and easy to get hold of at your nearest drugstore.
The Face:
- Instead of applying foundation I wear Olay BB Cream - shade: medium.
- Collection Concealer - shade: cool medium (as you can see, I love it so much that the writing has rubbed off!)
- To set my makeup so that it stays throughout the whole day I use Rimmel Stay Matte Powder - shade: transparent.
The Eyes:
- For eyebrows I use Beauty UK Brow Pencil - shade: dark brown.
- Collection Extreme Felt Liner to create a winged eye look - shade: black.
- I curl my lashes and then use the L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara: So Couture.
The Lip:
I usually just apply lip balm and then apply a lip liner just because it's longer lasting for the school day.
- Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Liner - shade: velvet beige.

Read In 5 Years Time...
To Future Self,
I hope this has reached you in good health, and I hope that you are completely content with where you are in life right now.
I am currently sitting on my bed and was scrolling through Bloglovin' when I saw a post which gave me the idea to do a time capsule type post which I can read in a few years time. So here are the following things I expected from you and questions I would like answering...
First of all, how are mum and dad? I bet dad (who is now 53) still spends hours in the garden planting random things so he can show them to all the relatives, and I suppose mum (who would be 42) still has the best tasting food in the world! She has recently been trying to teach me how to cook and I wonder if you know how to cook as well as her now?
How are the sisters? I wonder if they still fight over the iPads - they would be aged 19, 12 and 10 so I think they will have grown out of the petty fighting by now.
Are we still living in the same house or have we moved? Today I have been planning what the loft would look like if we had it converted, so I guess I would like to know if they eventually converted it into a bedroom?
In 5 years time I will almost be 23 years old (wow that's scary). By then I hope to have finished an undergraduate course in university and have a degree in Psychology - did I get into Birmingham or Leicester? I should also hope to be settled in a job as a psychiatrist or even carrying on with a further degree to get a job higher up in the career.
... Wow it's actually difficult to think of what I expect to have gained in 5 years since I am only 17.
Seeing that I am almost 23 years old and have probably made some lifelong friends in uni, I wonder if I'm still in touch with my best friends from secondary school and how much of my other friends I see. Who has stayed in our home town? Has anyone changed drastically? Has anyone had a baby? These are all questions I suppose I can find the answer to on Facebook, Instagram etc (perks of living in the 21st century).
Anyway, I hope you do get to read this - maybe I should set a reminder for 5years time so you remember to read it.
Wish you all the best in life,
17 year old you x

Everyday Makeup Removal
Now, I know it's not everyday that we can stick to a routine of taking our makeup off, but here is my super affordable, everyday makeup removal and cleansing routine for all you busy-bodies.
First of all, we need to remove all of our eye and face makeup as best as we can. So for this I use B. Pure Micellar Water from my local superdrug. This is great for removing impurities from all those hard-to-reach areas. I either use makeup wipes first to remove everything that I can see and then I use the micellar water to remove extra makeup, or I jump straight to using the micellar water with cotton pads. This is quick, cheap and easy.
Next, I use a cream wash (you can skip this). I usually use this because I don't like leaving the micellar water and any remaining dirt on my skin. This gives an all round finish.
Finally, we can moisturise (personally my favourite part). After I use the cream wash, I pat my face dry and mix my serum and day cream together. This gives me the most hydrating and soft-to-touch skin, so I would definitely recommend buying the Vitamin E Serum.
Well that's me done for the day, but please do leave me any recommendations of products to try out.

Let's begin...
Hello everyone,
I have recently read the book published by the infamous Zoe Sugg and all of a sudden I have the energy to start my own blog (lets see how long I can last).
Okay, I have to confess, I didn't quite finish the book... I read the first 2 pages (sorry!) but it's just that I'm not a huge reader and I don't have the patience lol
Anywhoo, just some quick facts about me:

Anywhoo, just some quick facts about me:
- I am 17 years old
- I act a bit like an old lady
- Currently struggling through my A levels (wish me luck)
- The boss of all my siblings (being the oldest has it's advantages)
- Aspiring to become a psychologist
- ... And I just want to make my family proud.
So now we have the formalities out of the way, I hope to make you laugh, cry and feel what I feel through my excuse of a blog. I intend to take you through my everyday life and hope to keep my readers entertained.
